Case Study: Chicago Architecture Center

A quintessential city event, Open House Chicago is a free, two-day public festival that offers behind-the-scenes access to architecturally, historically and culturally significant sites across the city.
Since 2018, Hoopla has collaborated with CAC to coordinate over 2,000 volunteers at 500 sites.

Together we streamline systems, uplift creative design, and increase city access.

During the 2020 COVID-19 spike, Hoopla produced a 45-minute film “If Walls Had Ears” as an Open House Chicago evening event. The long-form style piece highlights music spaces strangled by the pandemic into silence: The Vic, Thalia Hall, The Forum, The Avalon Regal Theatre.

Hoopla shifted its creativity from in-person events to storytelling via video during the pandemic – and found it exhilarating, a little overwhelming, and a major growth moment.

Every year, I learn something new from the Hoopla team that seems invaluable.  Hoopla’s professionalism, skills, knowledge, and sense of fun is unsurpassed.
