Case Study: Voice of the People in Uptown

Voice of the People in Uptown has a storied history as a key player in Uptown’s struggle to maintain and create affordable housing for Uptown residents and push back the powerful waves of gentrification since the 60s.
Since 2018, Hoopla has been partnered with Voice to diversify its funding portfolio to include an increased number of individual and corporate sponsors.

Together, we devised Sweet Home Uptown.

Sweet Home Uptown (SHU) is now a signature event for Voice of the People. We initially produced two virtual SHUs and the first-ever in-person SHU was held in February 2023 at the Palmhouse.

The event has a blues music theme, evoking the ongoing housing crisis struggle that Voice engages in.

The Hoopla team is one of the most amazing groups of professionals I’ve ever met in events management.  Their ability to support and build the capacity of non-profits at every level of experience is rare.  Hoopla helped our organization establish a new, annualized celebration and fundraiser, with branding and multi-media that has lasting shelf-life; an event which literally put us back on the map of awareness with individual, foundation and corporate supporters.
